What are your favorite lyrics from his songs and why?

Mine is from "Ready to Fall":

"I guess I just didn't realize how easy it is to open up my eyes to find that darkness is just me in the way of the light."

Why: For some reason the line speaks to me. How often to we bar our own paths? Daily in my case, sometimes because of self doubt, sometimes because of inaction. I also have a thing for poetry and from the first time I heard this song, it made me think of poetry, metaphors and people barring the light from their lives because of their own stupid actions...perhaps I read to much into the line, but either way, that line is why "Ready to Fall" is my favorite song of his.

That's one of my favorite lines as well. I actually used it in my graduation speech.

I love the chorus from "Sitting Beside":

And there's nothing worse than watching
The one who swam beside you
Who kept your head above water
Drifting away 'cause love spat you out

That's such a vivid image. I love it. (Along with all the lyrics of "Sitting Beside." That and "Every Heart Has a Winter" are his two strongest songs lyrically, I think.)

Any who's originated from the old site knows that, hands down, I love Ready to Fall, every lyric and note. It truly is one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard.

Ready to Fall is still one of my favorites, but the last few songs he released have been really stinkin' good.
