I thought I'd share a few of my favourite Jacqueline/D'Artagnan moments
: (A lot of them seem to come from
Chameleon , actually)
This one was mentioned already, but in
Enchanted, after the opening credits, Ramon and D'Artagnan are knocking at Jacques' door and invite him to breakfast. Ramon makes a comment about how Jacques is the only one who locks his room. Meanwhile, Jacqueline is on the other side, adjusting her bindings. Ramon, tired of waiting, states he's hungry and walks away. Just then, Jacques steps out, fully dressed and D'Artagnan's eyes are where they shouldn't be...
D'Artagnan: [
Clears his throat ] "Uhh... something slipped." [
Jacqueline gasps and bolts it back into her room ] "Can I give you a hand with that?" [
The door shuts in his face]
**
Again, in
Enchanted , following the scene described above, Jacques and D'Aratagnan are finally on their way to breakfast.
D'Artagnan: [
referring to Jacqueline's 'slip' earlier] "This pretending to be a man is getting old; how long can we keep it up?"
Jacqueline: [
Looking around to see if anyone is listening] "Until Cardinal Mazarin stops looking for the woman who killed the Captain of his guard [
glances over her shoulder again ]...which will be the day we knock that devious villain off his lofty perch and expose him as the evil mastermind that he is."
D'Artagnan: "You look so beautiful when you're overly earnest."
Jacqueline: [
sighs in disgust]
**
In an earlier scene in
Chameleon, Jacques and D'Artagnan are on a stake out to catch the Palace Thief. Jacques catches D'Artagnan yawning...
Jacques: "Is catching a palace spy so boring?"
D'Artagnan: "
Waiting to catch one, is!... [
Pause; looks at her wolfishly] I know a game we can play to stay awake."
Jacques: "Oh! I know that game too and you're the
last man on earth I'd play with."
D'Artagnan: "Hah. You're the
only man I'd play with"
***
And then later in the same episode, after the two of them finish locking up the book in a palace closet and turn around to stand guard at the door:
D'Artagnan: "So... Come here often?"

Now, this is perhaps my most favourite D/J moment in the entire series:
Again, in
Chameleon , the two of them are in Jacqueline's room right after 'Jacques' meets 'Jacqueline' in the street. She's changing out of her dress behind the screen and D'Artagnan is lounging on her bed; a mirror is arranged so that she can see a reflection of him but he can't see her (lol, I love the precautions she's taking to make sure he won't peek at her while she's changing) and the following dialogue ensues:
D'Artagnan: "If I hadn't seen you with my own eyes I would've never had believed it."
Jacqueline: [
On the other side of the screen, half dressed and panicked, pulls the shirt to her chest] "What? Seen what?"
D'Artagnan: "Not you, don't worry; you're precious modesty is unthreatened. I meant the thief; the disguise was perfect!
Jacqueline: "He could've taken my place completely and no one would've ever noticed."
D'Artagnan: [
Sits upright on the bed] "I would've noticed."
Jacqueline: "How? You said he looked
exactly like Jacques LePonte"
D'Artagnan: "He looked more like Jacques LePonte than you.
Jacqueline: "How does that make any sense?"
D'Artagnan: "His voice is deeper, he walks more like a man..."
Jacqueline: "Wait a minute..." [
Walks out from behind the screen, adjusting her shirt and vest] "You would've only realized he wasn't me because he acted too
masculine ?
D'Artagnan: [
Looking at her softly] "I would've realized he wasn't you because he
isn't you: he doesn't care about the things you do, like Justice, Kindness.."
Jacqueline: [
A little taken aback, looks down and then back up at him; he's still looking at her sincerely, she smiles a small smile] "Thank you"
