This has been bothering me for sometime. Anyone know what castle it is that houses Louis' court in Young Blades ? My initial guess was Saint-Germain-en-Laye, but the photos don't match up.

Oh wow, thank you!
Hmm. I wonder why they used that castle?

Cause it's such an incredibly pretty one! I think...either that, or someone at Insight was dying for an excuse to go there. They used the same shot for the intro to Canes.

Sue, those are really beautiful pictures. Thanks for the links. I discovered the castle pic when I was doing the "Tour de France" thread a couple of summers ago (check the hangout section ... I'm not sure which thread ). I love the way it's actually still lived in. edited: Hmm. Some pics on the Tour de France thread disappeared! I'll have to go back and clean it up when I have some time. Here's the scoop on the town: Carcassonne: Amazingly, this medieval city is still lived in! In 1659, the Treaty of Pyrenees gave the boarder province to France, and the town converted from a military town to one of commerce. The Canal du Midi was shortly after built by Pierre Paul Riquet in 1667.

I only wish they were my own photos...maybe in about a year. If things go well, that's in the plans! (God willing and the creek don't rise).

cool! I knew it wasn't the main one, but wasn't sure exactly how many castles France has.

Oh wow, thank you! Hmm. I wonder why they used that castle? I was thinking of this last night, and I think, from the point of view that most of the castles that Louis would have lived in were much more modern, (he grew up largely in the Louvre, I believe, and Fontainbleu, Palais Royale, etc. He didn't build Versailles until he was an adult, so using it would have been absurd), it doesn't make too much sense to use one that is so OLD! But I stand on that answer...because it's one of the most beautiful, and maybe because it was less identifiable, than, say all the castles along the Loire, and nearer to Paris. And there might have been problems with using photos or getting them. Or they might have had stock footage or something like that. And, queengwen, there are TONS of castles still standing in France! (and most of the rest of Europe as well). Many of them are gorgeous!

Here...this group is about castles all over...have fun! it can take you hours to look through all of them...I have a couple of photos in there...they were posted in, like September and October, so, since they set this up as a blog format, you'd have to go back to pages dated WAAAAAY back to see anything I did. Lots of people taking lots of great photos of lots of great castles. flickr.com/groups/castles-castillos/

Good for almost anything...last time I checked, there was even something (rather lousy) of Tobias on there.

But we only say good things about our Tobias here. Does that make YBB the best site on the net? lol I think so!
And that's a historic achievement.
