Argh, no wonder his name is so familiar to me! As an anime and manga fan, I am surprised that I failed to make the connection between YB and Gundam Wing, where he played the tortured lead character Heero Yuy in an effortlessly cool, somewhat bitter but extremely un-annoying manner. I can't recommend that animated TV show enough; it's heaps of fun for girls who want to get into robot shows. Although it has also unfortunately has spawned a very large slash fandom...Anyway, he's got the sensitive guy role down pat too, having done the nicer of the Bogard twins (Terry) from the Fatal Fury animated movie, as well as the softspoken Issei Nishikiyori of Please Save My Earth, which I believe is an animated masterpiece. Does anyone know if he's still doing voice-acting work, or has he given it up for now in order to concentrate on his acting and singing instead? I tell you, his voice alone makes me want to watch all my Japanese animation dubbed in English - which I don't normally like doing since most American voice-actors are unfortunately flat when they try to render their characters. Thanks! EDIT: Apparently, some people agree with me on having him do more voice roles. I ran a search on the Anime News Network, where a discussion on the voice-actors behind Death Note has turned into a pro-Mark debate.

He's been working more on his music lately, but he also starred as Prince Charming in something like three or four of the Barbie movies (GAAAAAH!) I recently bought a movie called Earthsea, that he had a featured role in...it was something like four or more years ago. Here, just check this out. www.imdb.com/name/nm0383926/

He also played "Angel" in X-Men Evolution and one of the Knights of the Round Table from "Arthur and the Knights of Justice". Both were cartoons that I used to watch when I was younger.

Oscardjarjeyes, you are in the right place asking about Mark. Hedanicree and Gabrielle are both involved with his web site. Hang out a bit and I'm sure they'll get to this thread. Also, Vigilanti keeps up with Mark too. And Sue and Daring. lol There's quite a Mark Hildreth following here.

I'm more Tobias Mehler than Mark Hildreth, but who's to say I can't appreciate another good looking talent from my favourite show

Ditto, but that will become obvious enough

Hey guys, thanks for the quick responses. I also want to know if anyone here has actually been able to view his animation work, besides thedaringhattrick and myself. Looking around here, the discussion seems to be more towards his live-action work and his work as a musician. As a voice-acting fan, I'm hoping to find some kindred souls who like voice-acting in this fine place. And as a part-time voice talent myself, I really would like to show some appreciation for his work.

Some things are up on YouTube. I was trying to watch one of the Barbie movies, but...ohhhhhh! It's such pablum! I think I got as far as where he came in, and haven't watched the rest of them. He does have a nice voice!

The best Barbie movie that Mark was in, has to be the Princess and the Pauper. The songs are beautiful... but it irked me that Mark didn't do his own singing in it, for Prince Dominic's (his character's) song with Erica. We all know he can sing!!! Instead someone named Mark Luna did that... ugh.

I believe the reasoning behind that RK is because Mark likes to keep things in their place. ie, his music as his music, his voice acting as actually voice acting, not singing, and his acting as acting. As for the more voice acting question above: I can say, based on some information that will be released later, that he will be otherwise involved in another project over the next three-to-four months. Mark will release that information when he's ready on his Web site. However, I'm sure, knowing Mark, if he gets the opportunity for a voice project he likes, I'm sure he'll take it... Dani

Ah, I see, thanks guys! The Barbie movies have always been a bit hard for me to watch though. Guess I've to go see them now! XD;;;

LOL. No need to torture yourself. See if you have any younger friends who can loan you their CDs or something... then you won't need to buy unless you really like them.
Um, gotta save money, petrol prices are up and all... *whistles innocently*
And ooh, hedani. I didn't know Mark was the one who didn't want to. I thought the producers or whoever didn't like his singing or something. Thanks for the info... OT: Did ya miss me?

You very well could be right, RK. That is just my understanding of it, but I don't know why any couldn't love Mark's voice. I recognize it immediately, even from the other room, when something he's done voice work for, etc., comes on...or in the last case, when Worlds End came on Encore while I was cleaning one day and not paying attention.
Anyway, enough rambling. I'm still trying to find time for all I do in the real world, but I'd really love to see the Gundam series, etc., just to hear Mark.
Sleep now.

@ RK: Ahahaha, it's just that I actually can watch it sometimes on Cartoon Network. It's just that I'm not particularly fond of Barbie in the first place, that's why I can't really stand being remotely exposed to the doll and its merchandise, even TV shows. XD;;;
@ Dani: He's not on all of the Gundam series, just Gundam Wing. I believe it was dubbed and shown at the Toonami block of Cartoon Network during 1999-2001 in the USA. Since the series is popular, you might want to check out Bandai Entertainment's English site for the Gundam universe for show, cast, character and even sales information. Also, thanks for the information on why Mark may sometimes accept certain roles, but not fill in for all of them (i.e., if he accepts a speaking voice-over role but his character also has singing roles, he will stick solely to the speaking role).

Thanks for the info, oscardjarjeyes. I actually know that he was just in Gundam Wing and where to find it. It's just that I have so much on my plate, I haven't had time or money or the mental wherewithal to dive into a new series. It's on the list of shows to check out, and from what I know of Gundam Wing, it's a really good series. Thanks to my best friend, I'm kind of an anime junkie. He got me addicted first to Ranma 1/2 ages ago, then the Miyazaki films and Cowboy Bebop, Trigun and way too many more list. ... But some how I've never managed to see Gundam Wing, and only a handful of Mark's other voice work. Barbie movies included and Angel on X-Men and a few others. I know Gab has a list of off-site links to his voice work, but I don't remember where that went to now. In fact, I think we had that up on his forum before the redesign started. Must look into that... Night, Dani
