Is anyone going to see Twilight?

I most likely will, but it will not be opening weekend. I can't stand giddy teenagers. But the cast looks very promising, and it would be very interesting to see how they portray the different powers of the Cullens family. I'm going for sure when the hype dies down.

I went to the midnight show on opening night/morning. After reading all 4 books (and partial on the website)... I didn't like the movie. Yes I get that it's a movie and they can't put everthing in it. So after much thought, I decided I needed to see it again. I liked it much better the 2nd time. The realization is, the movie could've been 10 hours long and it still wouldn't have been long enough.

There was a lady behind us that fell asleep. She was snoring very loudly. And aside from the eye-candy that was Edward Cullen, those were my sentiments exactly.
I felt the film was extremely choppy. The plot was scatter-brained, there was no background, and for someone who only really glanced through the books like my friend and I, there was a lot that was left to be desired about the characters--especially the rest of the Cullen family. The whole picture felt like a Bella/Edward love-fest, although the story established nothing that would make the audience connect with the protagonists. The actress that played Bella made a very poor performance, in my opinion, and she and Edward were completely devoid of any sort of on-screen chemistry.
I felt like I wasted those $10, not to mention that hour and a half of my life.
That screenplay should have been doused in holy-water and burned at the stake.

I had the same reaction. I went into it having never read the books and I didn't like the movie.
I did read the books afterward and then went back and watched the movie again. It made more sense, but it should have been enjoyable to all, not to those who have just read the books.
However, after seeing the movie and reading the books, I really don't understand what all the hype is about for the series. I've read them now; they weren't 'bad' per se, but left much to be desire. Mostly, if I wanted a soap opera in my life, I'd watch them on television.
I also had the side effect of the movie making me homesick - which knocked it down to a one star. Yes, I can name exactly where every scene was shot. Why? Because it's my home and I've been there, walked there, stood there, and it had nothing to do with a Twilight fan 'visit the movie sites' obsession.
I miss the Pacific Northwest.
