When you go to buy a movie or dvd and find out later that it is 2 sided don't you get annoyed. I say this for a couple of reasons one is price. We all know it doesn't cost that much to make something with 2 dvds. Also most of the time when you buy a 2 sided dvd there isn't any price cuts or anything. Another reason to me it seems that the discs are easier to get messed up. I have no idea if I'm making any sense at all. Is there anyone else out there that don't like 2 sided dvds?

One two-sided DVD I have is Full screen on one side and Wide screen on the other. That is a different case than yours, but I liked the option of watching it from a different view any time I wanted and not having to get two discs. I don't remember the price for it, so I can't say whether it seemed expensive for one disc or not. But the first season of Bones is 22 episodes and 2 discs that are both two-sided I think. I haven't gotten through them all yet, but I liked having fewer discs and sleeves to deal with. And I also got it real cheap off Amazon. Sorry, I'm ok with two-sided dvds.

Its okay. I'm really starting to think that its just me and maybe I've just had to many bad things happen because of them(like the discs messing up).

Ok, now you have me thinking of the cost aspect of DVD making (hopeless side effect of my Econ background ). The actual cost of the plastic or whatever materials go into a disc may be similar for a single sided verses double sided DVD; however, there are additional costs of prepping two sides for recording and the special equipment or processing necessary to do so (at least at the onset of production I would assume the double sided recording machine or process would cost more. Once the process is implemented, it may actually take less time, electricity, etc...which converts into $$$). You still need the same plastic case for resale as well (no savings there). The double sided disc only needs one mount in the case, whereas two discs need two mounts (more expensive). It sounds complicated, and it is. I'm sure some production company has it all figured out. LOL. On the other side, it's "business" to ride the market prices on similar products. Even if it does cost less to produce the double sided disc, the manufactures will go for the profit. ;D Bottom line: Does the consumer LIKE the end product? Will they buy it? Will the company make their $$$? Will they be able to buy their kid that GI Joe doll with the Kung Fu grip? (ok, that's a movie line, which proves that these people are making their money off of me.)

Another reason to me it seems that the discs are easier to get messed up. I have no idea if I'm making any sense at all. Is there anyone else out there that don't like 2 sided dvds? Definitely. I avoid buying them if at all possible. I don't have a problem with the price, since I can understand that it might be more expensive to produce double-sided rather than single-sided DVDs. But my DVD player, which has no difficulty with VCDs or single-sided DVDs, has a tendency to chew up double-sided DVDs and spit them out after they've been played a couple of times. That would be fine if I had gotten something I was only planning watching once to make fun of, like "Glitter." But since I only spend money on the shows and films that I truly enjoy, it would be nice to have them around a little longer before the second side becomes completely unreadable.
