Tomorrow I get to see Becoming Jane, the story of Jane Austen. I hope it's good. I can't wait to see this movie on one of my favorite authors. ;D
Has anyone else seen it or plans to see it?

I don't know much about Jane Austen. Don't shoot me ! But I saw the preview and thought it looked really interesting and would like to see it. Not sure if I'll see it in the theater or rent it but let me know what you think.

Without spoiling it too much, I will say that I liked it. I'll have to buy it when it's released in DVD. I'm an Austen fan, so it's a must. It pulls on your heart. Real life has a lot of uncertainties, which certainly come out in this movie. She is faced with choices and makes some heart-wrenching decisions. Yet, you can see that they all made Jane the fabulous writer that she became. What struck me was how many events and personalities in her life showed up in her stories. Just from Pride and Prejudice alone, Mr. Darcy, Mrs. Bennet and even Lady Catherine were all there in some degree or another. I personally enjoyed seeing the writer in her emerge and could relate to the scenes where she was brainstorming ideas into the late hours of night. Ah, Jane and I are of kindred spirits!

Don't miss Northanger Abbey tomorrow on PBS. Check your local listings for time. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same time as the football game (the one supposed to be played in 9 degrees temperature - brrr!).

Queengwen, you said in the shoutbox that there's a BBC version of Northanger Abbey? I hadn't realized that.
I know I read the story a while ago. But it was funny how it felt so different from the book. The story was the same, but the scenes that were emphasized brought a suspense feeling to the story.
LOL I liked the way her "imagination" got the best of her. They way they filmed that made me feel it would be her undoing, even though I knew he'd show up at the end to marry her.

Billie Piper? cool... guess that's what she was doing after Who...
Ok, I did LIKE Becoming Jane...saw it twice... but one thing..
I like Anne Hatheway..but OMG..her 'English' aceent sounded SOO fake... couldn't they have gotten a 'real' British Acctress to do it?

Just watched Becoming Jane on the DVD version with the "pop up notes." Loved it!
My respect grows for Anne Hathaway's portrayal of Jane each time I see this movie. Her mannerisms, voice, "Jane" moments, etc. do Austen great justice.

I think this movie is great! I've also read the book, well i had to, because of school. I thought it would be a boring book, but it was great.!
