I love soundtracks especally as backdrop to writing: Vanhelsing, daredevil, batman, spiderman, starwars, narnia, LOTR, Pirates of the carabean, gladiator, 3 musketeers, man in the iron mask, count of monte cristo, robinhood prince of thieves, princess bride, and secrets of roan inish - Another one! My roommates always comment on my use of soundtracks and how it always sounds like I'm having a 'war' in my room whenever I'm studying because there's a bombastic orchestra blaring through my speaker. Couldn't get through Medieval Literature class without these, no way. As for artists I have to say my tastes run a little harder than what most of you have named here. I'm mostly stuck in the 90's with my music. I love grunge. Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden (I adore Chris Cornell!) Some old school Nine Inch Nails, and I can even tolerate a bit of Metallica. Definitely grew up on the Seattle sound. With regards to modern bands, I like Queens of the Stone Age, Silversun Pickups, High Frequency Thieves, The Foo Fighters, David Usher/ Moist, The Limestoners, C0ndu1t, Audioslave, The Shins, Snow Patrol, and Brand New. I'm a rocker chick in all but stereotype (seriously, one look at me and I'm more Jessica Simpson than Amy Winehouse). However, I'm a sucker for a man who can play an instrument. I play guitar and piano myself Mind you, I don't mind a little bit of pop now and then, depending on my mood. I can appreciate a bit of Shania Twain and Madonna or Keith Urban. I can even bust a move to some hip hop and jam to some rap. What I absolutely cannot stand, however, is techno music. *shudder*
