Away from the romantic relationships, I actually like the friendship between Duval and the four of them. He's seems like the ultimate dad figure for all of them. I mean seriously, who else would go into a submarine with you when you're not even sure it would work and his biggest fear was water?

You know that I think about it... he acts kinda motherly too. But he can only handle grown men... once his nephew and niece come into the picture, he falls apart hahaha.

Don't know if this is considered a relationship... more like a bond. What about Siroc and his inventions?

Covalent.. omg.. I remember that from high school. hahaha. Well, Siroc does have a certain love for his ideas, even though some of them did backfire.. like the potion.

Here's another odd relationship that I was wondering about. Mazarin and Bernard. I know they're in the role of the villian and such, but they way they interact is actually quite funny. I find myself laughing most of the time. Ah, humorous lil bad guys.

Yeah, poor Bernard tries so hard to be the brilliant Captain's Guard. But he comes off more like Mazarin's puppy dog.
When he's in a really vile scene (several of the cut scenes that are on the DVDs), he actually cringes at the extra "evility" of Cardinal Mazarin. So does Bernard want to be the good little subordinate and just happens to be in the employ of a very bad man? It would have been interesting to have a history for Bernard.

I can't really Bernard as any other type of person. Since I saw him stab Gerard, I just "rewinded" the DVD just to see Jacqueline stab him again. Evil, vile man.. hmm... those two words have the same letters. Although on the other hand, I can see him and d'Artagnan as little boys that just wanna duke it out half the time.

Now that we're bringing up different relationships, what about that chemistry between Queen Anne and THE d'Artagnan? In "Secrets of the Father," there's a hint of closeness, but with a slight rejection thing going on. I think if there were more seasons, this could have been built on. Different writers in the past have done various things with these two.

I'm not sure if it's rejection. I think it's just respect out of the different roles they both play. D'Artagnan Sr is a soldier and Anne is well, a queen. If there wasn't such a drastic gap in status I wouldn't be surprised if they got married or something. They do make a nice couple. I was hoping that they would kiss or something in Secrets of the Father.

Anne was the one that backed off from him. I took it that she had just been used by the weasely Duke and her pushing D away wasn't something he was used to her doing.
But that was just my perception.
