that is a very instering and funny relationship...to me it almost seems she doesn't want to be a mother...then she gos and does something totally motherly..so she may not really know how to be a mother..not sure

historically speaking Anne doated on louis, her whole world revolved around him unlike many royal parents who pawned their children off on others she spent time with him every day. she didn't get much attention from her husband and he (louis 13) was afraid she was turning the boy against him as louis cried when he saw the king. but other days father and son plaued in the garden best of friends. It was very unusual for royal families of the day to be that close. Even later in life louis said his best friend was always his mother. (brother phileppe was not so lucky, Anne dressed him and treated him like a girl, always taking 2nd place to his brother whom he called his 'little papa'.)

Yes...
it is sad isn't it? The way they treated each other and the kids back then.

RE: Jacqueline and D'Artagnan's relationship and how he helps her become more "manly."
I noticed this too, in the first several eps. D'Artagnan really brings Jacqueline along in how to "act" like a man. It didn't take long, however for her to "excel" at their behavior. It's almost frightening to think how Karen C. was able to reduplicate those manly facial expressions.
