Yes, I did mention that I felt Jacqueline wasn't just referring to his use of a sword, didn't I? But to the reckless things he does in general. If not, I apologize for not making that clear.
Glad you're not angry. Yeah, I've watched the episode like... more than ten times already... my tapes are quite worn out. I watched it again yesterday, and it was like I could hear the words and know what was going to be said next... even though it's been some time since I last dug out my tapes. Like... riding a bike. It all came back.
I think she was trying to distract him. Maybe. Push his attention to Jacqueline, get him to think in another direction... make a deal, anything so her secret won't be revealed and she can get d'Artagnan out of there. It's interesting that Charles fell for that one - but maybe he was willing to prove to Jacqueline's "brother" that he truly cares for Jacques' sister... wants to impress Jacques? Like, if he wants to court/marry Jacqueline, he has to impress her family? So yeah, he fell the non-sequitur... maybe he even knew that it was a distraction, though I doubt it from his reaction. Or maybe Jacqueline was important enough to him that he allowed it.
Yep, that was me musing on it in real-time, typing out my thoughts as I went along. Haha. Didn't have time to really ponder... and today I have a Business exam paper! Bye for now!
