Gab said: Talk about Secrets here. Hmm. I'm sure she didn't mean what it looks like! As I was transcribing Secrets from my VHS ('cause it has all the words on the captioning which made it easier) it occurred to me to get the EXTRA scenes off my DVDs! Talk about FUNNY! King Louis has a whole scene where he is absolutely a riot! He rants on how he wants to be like Charles Stuart! LOL. Poor D will live in that man's shadows! Oh, and the love potion made the women RUN AWAY from him! So that supports the fact that the potion had different effects on different people. The more I looked at this episode, it looked like d'Artagnan's personality changed. That campfire scene was the first time he didn't skirt around the issue with her. No wonder she wanted to kiss him!

I FINALLY got to see the whole season. About time huh? Well, I certainly wanted a lot more explained in this one. However, the addition of A.D was just awesome. I liked the flashbacks too. Made me want to watch all of them all over again. ^^

Kris! Someone else who liked Alexandre Dumas! You are my new best friend! Too many others have said they did not like him. I thought it was a smart way to say that the show "met its maker (died and went to heaven)." I even wrote an alternate chapter 10 (Crossroads and Cameos--where I got to play the waitress) for my fanfic, Sign of the Cross, for those who didn't like the Dumas part (I wrote him and me out ). Personally, I had a blast writing it!

Hmm.. this may seem a bit off topic. But readers won't always agree with the writer. It's your story and you have the power to change it, but you don't have to. Although, I will admit I would have liked that type of setting for a finale of YB in whole. Rather than seeing him for the first season finale, it might have been more effective in THE finale.

Agreed--writers and readers will not always agree. Secrets is a prime example of this. You make a great point about it being better if Dumas would have shown up in the LAST last episode (ep 1million+ ). By then his appearance wouldn't have been so hastily put together and much of the mysteries would have been solved (not to mention that kiss). It's kind of like the "creator" shows up prematurely here. Elements of the episode do feel tossed together after the writers learned of the cancellation. But they did a fabulous job with what they had. That and D and Js relationship advancement are why I really like this ep...plus the potion thing. Writers do write for the readers as well as for fun; thus, the two versions for my story. And although this mention may be slightly off-topic, it is 100% related to the episode of Secrets because that's where the material came from for the alternate version.

It was just one of those eps that you know it's the last one, but you wish there weren't any backflashes because you want to see new material. But on the plus side, you are reminded of why you love the show so much. It's sad to see it go, but thank God we have talented writers working on the VS.
It's actually pretty cool to see Siroc having an interest in women. His character is usually isolated or void of invovlement with women, so seeing him take such an interest in the potion was a real eye opener. At least it was to me. Refreshing, but one can't feel a bit envious of those women hahaha.

I love this episode it shows the muskeeters closeness and Jackline kills Bernard(takes D'Artayans fun away) but the sad thing is her brother dies(that made me cry..so sad) I would love to know what is so important about Jacklines cross...

I never quite looked at Bernard's death as taking d'Artagnan's fun away, but I suppose it removed his adversary. So you have a point.
Gerard's death was tragic no matter how you look at it.
;D If you want to know my take on Jacqueline's cross, you'll have to read my story--Sign of the Cross.

I have read that story but it was quite a while ago and she took D'Artayns fun aways by killing Bernard beacuse now he has no one pick random fitghts with and I think that maybe he secretly wanted to kill or at least be the down fall of Bernard and instead Jackline got to..

You must be getting Sign of the Cross mixed up with the TV episode. I just finished SOTC. Swordplay was the one I wrote before that one.
Anyhow, Jacqueline certainly didn't intentionally kill Bernard. After Bernard killed Gerard, it was either him or her. You can see that she, once again, has an element of anger (like she did when her father was murdered). But give the girl a break, she's bleeding to death and sees Bernard maliciously kill her brother right before her eyes.
