Wow! Four commercial breaks in and this is quite a development... Castle lets the cat out of the bag on his feelings for Kate and she doesn't even bat an eyelash. She is so determined to go after whoever's behind her mother's murder and her attempted murder. So Castle's response... I can't even put it in a spoiler!!  |

Whoa! What a season's finale! Good and very bad. Yikes! One thing's for sure: next season will be a totally different show.

Haha! There's nothing to be said that isn't a spoiler. So here's MHO. That little bit at the end with Mr. Smith guarantees Beckett's story isn't over. There's plenty for next season. But how she'll operate is up to the writers. Will she be called back to the force? Certainly not if it's her own case, which it will be. But let's not write Mr. Smith off just yet. And Castle has looked over Kate's files on his computer so much that he doesn't even need to recover it from his "trash". But a computer trash bin has to be emptied for it to be gone for good. Castle only moved it to the trash bin. So technically, he still has all her case information. Will they operate from his home? And will the assassin go to Beckett's place and find her gone? Whew! Good thing she's with Castle. So much mystery as to how next season will go. And what about Espo? Despite how it went, I side with Ryan. He did the right thing. If there's any doubt, know that he saved Beckett's life by calling in for backup. |

The thing about the trash bin was not so much that it isn't there anymore...except that it's not in his face. It's more about the fact that he DID it...he was purging her from his life. Kate and the case, both. After all the times he has said he was done...he MEANT it this time. Did you catch how many times he pushed her away when she showed up? When she goes to kiss him, he takes a step back, and then she goes the second time, and he pushes her away. But she apologized. And gave him a little, then took him to bed. Even my 12-year old picked up on that! He said "Oooh! The ending was nasty!"  This is how I would write it: After a couple of episodes of just hanging around, possibly moping, Beckett decides to start her own private agency. Esposito will go with her. They don't like Gates, and simply can't work with her. Just like many supervisors coming into an established organization in a large company, she is rooting out the people she doesn't want, and will likely hire in people who she has already worked with. Castle will be in on the whole thing, help with the organization, and he'll, as a result, have a more hands-on part in the company. Not so much Kate's subordinate. He might even get a PI license (I imagine the others will have to as well). Ryan stays with the force, for a while, but gets saddled with a partner that he doesn't care for; I can think of a number of ways that could go. The new PIs keep running into the guys from the 12th. They have an adversarial relationship, with Ryan as a sort of liaison, grudging, at first, and eventually, he butts heads with Gates, too, and leaves, to work with them. Notice, I am NOT making a prediction, only writing the next season myself. I just looked over how far off I was last year!  |

Nice writing. lol Only there's the assassin issue...and Mr. Smith. Yeah, well, that would be difficult without an entire police force behind her. I haven't figured out what to do with that, yet...see...this year, they didn't have anything for...as they mentioned several times in the finale...eleven months! Do you think he'll resurface right away? Or will he go underground again for a while? |

I think it depends on what Mr. Smith will do. Will he give the evidence right to the assassin? Or will he die without giving up the information? In that case, the information is still at large and Beckett is no threat off the force...unless she starts poking around. Hard to say.

So, there were multiple references in the last episode to something called "Grey Gardens", so I had to check it out...Yeah, I can totally see it: Castle and Alexis, growing old together at his place in the Hamptons, except instead of the singing and dancing mother/daughter, they'd be playing Laser Tag into their sunset years.
