Yeah, that was a nationwide thing...I guess, where they even had outlets. No one ever even pays attention to it, here...I just refer to it as the all infomercial station, but I have a friend who refers to it as the Christian channel, because they do a lot of tacky televangelist stuff in the mornings. I only happened to stumble upon the show, because of the tag line. My son LOVES anything to do with swords, so I thought I'd preview it and see if he might like it...little did I know... Anyway, I never watch anything else on that channel. It wouldn't matter what they called it...so little really interests me on it.

It used to be a really good station the shows were cool sometimes they would show reruns and they had one of my other favorite dhows of all time Diagnosis Murder, needles to say I saw the commercial for this while watching that, but now that saition is just annoying..the switch of ownership ruined it.

We have REALLY veered off topic here, but we saw all of Diagnosis Murder the first run on ABC or whatever it was...I could look it up, but why bother? My husband really liked it. I thought it was funny that Ciacci was on it (also known as Charles in Charge), but never watched it on I/Pax...I used to laugh at the commercials for Billy Ray Cyrus' show.

I suppose, once the show has been cancelled, and the writers and producers have moved on emotionally, they aren't putting as much into the show that they have been working on...minds are elsewhere, just collecting a paycheck until their contract runs out. Which would account for the Star Treks, with planned ending times, having better conclusions. Not really.. Enterprise KNEW it was being cancelled... they had TIME to write and shoot a REAL finale... instead they dusted off the one wirtten the year before w/ out making any changes... anyways... just had to make that point.

Which would account for the Star Treks, with planned ending times, having better conclusions. I was referring to the two shows mentioned in the post just before the original one, which had been touted as having had good conclusions. I, personally don't know. I haven't watched a Star Trek since I broke up with that Mama's boy in disguise. Not really.. Enterprise KNEW it was being cancelled... they had TIME to write and shoot a REAL finale... instead they dusted off the one wirtten the year before w/ out making any changes... anyways... just had to make that point.

lol, just doin' my job ... did I start this? But the sour endings of shows and PAX/i changing their programming do have a lot to do with our d'Artagnan getting shorted on his series. I believe if he had a better station, he would have survived longer. We are proof it was a worthy show. Nearly three years after the fact, we are still putting out quality fan fiction. Stay tuned for more d'Artagnan. And on that topic, Tobias Mehler did an outstanding job portraying the son of the legend for today's audience.

I find d'Artagnan a fun character to write about, but I'm thinking he doesn't have that mark of tragedy like the other three do. Most of his angst comes from having to stand in his father's shadow.
Do you think d'Artagnan and his father are very different? (Not just in the "Sins of the Father" episode, over all, for those who've read up on their musketeer lore and watched several incarnations of our favourite, dashing hero)

No, not in the general way, he has a 'rep' just like dad... he's 'charming' just like dad... he wants honor and recognition just like dad... he only REAL difference is... i see him standing by his wife and children..no matter what... because 'dad didn't' for him, and he remembers what that felt like... and so if it comes down to it *which is likely* he'll give up the above for family.

I don't think the father is at all like that. I think it's all about being a "legend". He almost HAS to live up to what people THINK he is, what has been written about him, the "legend". And the son has to live up to it, or even out do the reputation, because he feels like eveyone expects it of him. On the other hand, the name recognition does just sort of get him girls, and he totally enjoys that.

Of course he does (what guy wouldn't?), our D'art is the epetimy of dashing swordsman, rugged, handsome, the perfect blend of rouge and gentleman, obviously skilled with the blade and of course he has the family name to convince people of all this. In the state of mind he's not so different form his father, although he does tend to brag less, it's the way they handle their fame that sets them apart. I think his father is a bit at a loss trying to relive his "glory days" if you will, while D'art is just getting started, he only has his father's legacy to live up to, when in reality he wants one of his own.

That really didn't come out the way I wanted it to. It really is all about the characters as portrayed, only in the show. In reality, I never thought the original D'Artagnan was at all like that. In the novel, he is modest, and really a pretty quiet type. Not at all the legend as portrayed, and discussed in the series.
But I stand by my last post as portrayed by Charles Shaunessy. (I've been a fan of his for, like 20 years!)

I think they just portray him as the fun, very flirtatious, romantic character to target the female viewers. Which, of course, I am in no way shooting down. I love that character. Even though we only have one season, we do get a good look at differents sides of him. Child at heart, but loyal, would actually do anything for those he loves, and eventually comes to terms with his father. God, I wish they made a second season..
